Protecting Neurodivergent Lives Before Crisis Begins
NEURODIVERGENT INDIVIDUALS FACE DRAMATICALLY HIGHER SUICIDE RISK.
WE BUILD SYSTEMS THAT CHANGE THAT.
The Statistics Are Staggering
Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for individuals ages 10-24 in the U.S.
13x
Autistic women are up to 13X more likely to die by suicide than neurotypical women.
5x
Individuals with ADHD are 5X more likely to attempt suicide than neurotypicals.
3x
Autistic individuals are up to 3X more likely to attempt suicide than neurotypicals.
9x
Autistics without intellectual disability face up to 9X higher suicide mortality.
These disparities are not inevitable.
They are preventable.
In Memory of Danny
The Danny Boy Foundation was created in honor of Danny Ashtiani, who died by suicide at 17. He was the brother of our co-founder, Dr. Hasti Raveau.
Danny had ADHD and was intellectually gifted, but much of his life passed without the kind of understanding and support he truly needed.
This foundation exists so fewer families ever have to ask:
What if someone had understood sooner?
We believe suicide prevention must begin early—before crisis emerges. It must affirm neurodivergent identities, be grounded in evidence-based care, reduce daily stressors, and transform systems—not place the burden of survival on individuals alone.
Our Approach
Most suicide prevention starts too late. Ours doesn’t.
The Danny Boy Foundation operates through three interconnected pillars:
Education and Training
We train the systems neurodivergent folks move through every day:
• Mental health professionals
• Schools and universities
• Healthcare systems
• Corporations and workplaces
• Faith centers and community organizations
Our trainings integrate evidence-based suicide prevention with neurodivergent-specific risk factors, identity affirmation, and systemic reform.
Affirming Mental Health Care
Access to appropriate care should not depend on income or geography.
We provide pro bono and low-cost services to all ages grounded in:
• Neurodiversity-affirming practice
• Trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment
• Family-centered prevention models
Our clinical approach addresses both acute risk and the long-term environmental stressors that elevate vulnerability.
Reducing Daily Strain
Chronic stress compounds suicide risk. Stability protects lives.
We provide practical supports that reduce environmental burden:
• Food and basic needs access
• Diaper and hygiene support
• Housing navigation
• Case management and care coordination
• Employment and resume support
Reducing daily strain is central to suicide prevention.
Stand With Us
Lasting prevention requires collective responsibility.
This work depends on educators, clinicians, institutions, donors, volunteers, and community leaders who recognize that neurodivergent lives are not expendable, and that systemic change is possible.
The Danny Boy Foundation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
When you stand with us, you invest in earlier intervention, affirming systems, and practical stability for individuals and families at risk. Together, we can build environments where fewer families face preventable loss.
